Here are just a few issues as supervisor on which I would focus and would like to implement:
- Reassess property tax exemptions granted to heavy industry and lower residential and small business property taxes.
- Decreasing fire district ratings and lowering homeowner's insurance.
- Restoring county road budget to 2010 level to address maintenance issues.
- Promoting “Smart Growth” economic development versus old-school “business corridors”.
- Improve our public boat launches and dock/piers.
- Heavily promote our natural resources and tourist attractions (Desoto National Forest, Walter Anderson Museum, downtown Ocean Springs, etc).
- Improve the efficiency of county government by requiring all forms, documents, reports be accessible online.
- Make video of all Board meetings available online.
- Hold evening biweekly "Meet Your Supervisor" meetings to allow citizens to voice their concerns in person.
This is by no means a complete list. More importantly, I want to hear your concerns and what you believe should be the priorities of the Jackson County Board of Supervisors.
